PRODUCT INFORMATION
General Description
Chrysoprase, Chrysophrase or Chrysoprasus is a gemstone variety of Chalcedony (a cryptocrystalline form of Silica) that contains small quantities of Nickel. Material from Madagascar is mined in two localities, namely, Tulear and Ambatondrazaka. Chrysoprase's colour is normally apple-green, but varies to deep green.
We often get stunning Chrysoprase polished items across a range of shapes from Madagascar. This material is very difficult to obtain and rarely comes with no intrusive exposures, or solid consistent colour intensity. Colour intensity is often variable with pale colours or lacking vibrancy being the order of the day a few years back. However, more recent material has been richer darker green, but with a degree of brecciation. Expertly polished lovely finish. Amazing line of rare polished things.
